CELEBRATING AT HOME: FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT

https://ocarm.org/en/celebrating-at-home/72-celebrating-at-home-first-sunday-of-lent-pdf/file

Lord Jesus, create in us silence so that we may listen to your voice in Creation and in the Scriptures, in events and in people, above all in the poor and suffering. May your word guide us so that we may experience the power of your resurrection and witness to others that you are alive in our midst as source of fraternity, justice, and peace. Amen.

“Our great Lenten journey has begun! It’s a journey which begins in ash and ends in water. Fire is a profound part of our national experience. We know its power to destroy, blacken and reduce to ash. We know that evil can do the same – destroy our wholeness of spirit, blacken our lives and reduce the beauty of human life to so much dust.

We begin Lent in the ash of acknowledging our own part in harbouring, creating and doing evil – those places in our hearts where the fire of anger, bitterness, selfishness or narrowness of mind and heart has left nothing but cold ash…”

Novena of Our Lady of Lourdes for the sick – Day 9

Day Nine
10th February

Today’s intention:
For those who govern that they may discover the value of the sick and the dying
and that the sick and the dying might be helped by those who govern.

You can add your own intentions

(Prayers to be repeated every day during the Novena)

Mary, You who appeared to Bernadette in the hollow of the rock,
in the cold and depths of winter,
You brought the warmth of a presence, the friendship of a smile,
the light and beauty of grace.
In the hollow of our often obscure lives, in the hollow of this world where
Evil is powerful, bring hope, restore confidence.
You who said to Bernadette
“I am the Immaculate Conception”:
come to the help of the sinners that we are.
Give us the courage of conversion, the humility of penance
and the perseverance of prayer.
We entrust to you all those we carry in our hearts and especially the sick
and those in despair, you who are “Our Lady of Good Help”.
You guided Bernadette to the spring.
Guide us to Him who is the source of eternal life, the One who gave us the Holy Spirit,
so that we dare to say:
Our Father who art in Heaven…

Say a decade of the Rosary, followed by the following invocations:

“Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!”

“Saint Bernadette, pray for us!”

“O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee.”
